ART MARKET X-MASTRAVAGANZA!!

If you’re living in/around Oakville, ON and you want to see more of my stuff, there is another market Sun 21 10am-4pm  @ the same place posted above.

Today went well at the x-mas craft sale.  :]
I got to speak to some great people and inspire others about reusing and being consumer-conscious.

I had some great conversations brainstorm sessions with people mainly about reusing the plastic ‘shell’ of pens and finding a way to make my Reversed Pigment (a.k.a Bleachers) clothing more environmentally friendly.

My next goal in regards to that is “bleaching” clothing with high-grade peroxide or a lemon juice/vinegar mix.
I’ll let readers know the results.

I’m so happy being able to get out there and talk to people. Just to get the ball rolling, and to INSPIRE!!!

One of the thoughts I brought up (in general terms and not in any way about my own creations)

Focus on the products you buy.

Who you support.
Where it comes from.
How much material is in it, and if that material is actually necessary.

Cuttin’ up in a Storm!

It’s been raining for most of the summer here in Dawson.
Every Friday night I stay up till the wee hours of the night getting ready for Saturday @
the Art Market.

Here are some of the shirts I’ve been making!

The halter top doubles as a choker! I just sold this shirt today... [I was secretly hoping I could keep it]

This halter top doubles as a choker!
I had this hanging around my booth for a few weeks, but I just sold this shirt today…

I kept this shirt instead. word.

The back of a DISTURBED band shirt. It’s the face of their mascot.

There are more shirts, but I’d like to find different models.

Workin’ the Dawson City ArtMarket

This week is going to be a busy one. I’m going to have to make a whole lot more patches, necklaces and t-shirts for next Saturday, which is the Dawson City MUSIC FEST!!!!

Why? Because having a booth at the Dawson City ArtMarket went better than I expected!  :]

HERE’S A BONUS: click the link above!! Search for a picture of my back and a flowery skirt setting up my first ever ArtMarket table! I shared it with Troy, this guy who makes SUPER-TRIPPY-SUPER-AWESOME screenprints  ⇔

What do I sell, you ask?

I am currently lacking in photographic tools, but I will try to explain;

I am the ultimate recycler.

I scour the streets for cool rocks, forgotten toys, sticks, metal bits and whatever
tickles me.
I make jewelry, magnets, hair stuff and other various bits and bobs.

I thrift like a mad woman!

Cutting, Sewing, Ripping, Stitching. Dying. Tying. Spiking.
Until I make ugly, old or awkward clothing look WAY cooler than…
in.your.dreams, kiddo.

I AM ARISE-TO-TRASH.  I’M GOING TO CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT JUNK

one cool trinket at a time.

It’s a lifestyle I’m selling. It’s being hyper-aware of your own necessities.
I don’t even care if you buy my art. Just be inspired.

Ask yourself.
– Do you need it? Do you, really?
– Is there a better source to get it from?
– What are you supporting? Do you agree with their views?
– How can you make a difference?

Surprisingly, there are people of all ages who appreciate what I am trying to do.
I am so thankful for that.

Be radical. Think for yourself. Cherish the earth. Don’t take more from it than you need.

MY VERY FIRST LYNX!

Yes! Yes! YES!

I saw my very first LYNX on my drive to Whitehorse this morning! How cool!

I wish I could post photos of the drive down, namely Stewart Crossing’s tiny little “Food Store”, but I can’t figure out how to get this stuff off my blackberry and onto the school computer [818 PICS]
My boyfriend and I drove with Teresa [a friend from writer’s club] and her cute little Dawson City Mutt, Tucker. What a fun ride! I learned about how to find a good name for myself, branding and marketing my artwork at the Dawson City Art Market beginning in the summer… I’m excited, but very nervous about the whole thing. I also need to make more art and various merch before I can start worrying about branding myself.

Why am I in Whitehorse anyways? Oh! It’s because my TEETH ARE KILLING MY FACE.  Yes, I have X-RAYS from 2 years ago… proof that my teeth are screwy. I need to take new ones so that I can get my wisdom teeth removed in MAY at the earliest –reality is telling me it won’t be until June. One thing I really hate about facial X-RAYS is taking out all my jewelery. I’ve got topaz plugs in so those will stay, but otherwise I have to take out 10 piercings!! Lazy much?

I am sorry to say I did not document the Lynx, but I will post a photo of one side of my mouth. Here is the wisdom tooth that I despise:

& now, back to delicious soup with my boyfriend in a hotel with a big old jacuzzi!
