Colonialism for Dummies (a story about chickens)

Robert Lovelace’s analogy for how colonization happened in Canada.

I think parts of this can be applied to other ‘settled’ lands, too. Lovelace did a pretty great job, so give it a read!

Bernie Sanders: Corporate Media is a Threat to Democracy | Democracy Now!

An older video, but this is a very important and insightful interview with Bernie Sanders.

Please click the link below and watch as he introduces his new book and talks about how D.Drumph capitalized on very serious issues regarding poverty, middle class families and hopelessness… perhaps relying on desperate, misinformed minds.

Music | The Old-timers

The Old-Timers are the best Christian Punk band I have ever heard. Probably the only one I have ever heard… I discovered them a few days ago on Trent Radio and, although I do not identify with religion, this is the best contemporary religious music I have ever heard.

They don’t only sing about god! They sing about real issues, politics and the social issues we face. Homeless Friends is one of my favorite songs, also check out For the Love of Hippos!!!

They are PUNK A.F.

-Question- the West

I know the feels.

I don’t associate myself with much mainstream media anymore because I think it is all a big distraction from the real issues at hand.

“I don’t wanna watch television
I don’t wanna listen to the radio
I don’t wanna drown in American society.”

Problem is, because I choose to entertain myself with different types of movies , radio stations or new sources I’m starting to find it really hard to communicate/relate to most people my age.

Why do you think it is so easy to get sucked into mainstream media? Why is it so believable?

I am reading Evelyn Waugh’s Scoop for English class and it is causing new discussions for what/who determines mainstream reality and ‘news’. It is interesting to reactions when people realize that most of what they know about the current situation of our world has been documented and constructed by people who have under-lying motives at hand.  Industry, Politics, Consumer-culture.

What I mean to say is, QUESTION what information you are given. Don’t be afraid to read CBC or underground news sources like Rabble to get a second or third opinion on a matter. Sometimes newspapers/musicians/filmmakers are muzzled by other powers that do not want the general public to know everything.

So question things, my friend.

& I don’t know about you, but I don’t wanna drown in [Western] society.

*UPDATE* Toronto Hydroburgers

Results weren’t ideal for Toronto’s Hydro customers or environmental advocates.

18 out of 45 City Councillors voted in favour of ‘POLLUTER PAYS’

This would have gained the city of Toronto $1.6 million by charging hydro companies for their pollution instead of giving them discounts and allowing pollution fees to be passed down to hydro customers.

22 Councillors including the Mayor voted against full cost recovery.

They decided to allow corporate polluters to get discounts on the clean up costs associated with water treatment. This means hydro customers are still paying  double for clean up fees.

See how your Councillor voted:

Interesting how BOTH burger brains voted against making corporations pay money to the City. Notice Rob Ford’s conflict of interest …

Most people think ‘anarchy’ is another word for chaos and destruction, a belief fostered by almost all dictionaries and political commentators. But in fact, anarchy simply means taking responsibility for one’s own actions.”

Toronto’s water is getting WA$TED

On antibiotics and chemical cleaning solutions leaking into our sewage (and drinking) water.
Awful? Totally.

What’s more awful is that the majority of it is coming from law-breaking companies that rely on OUR TAX MONEY to clean up their mess. This city must be drinking some hardcore, homemade brew-skis if they are not realizing all of this lost revenue.  Our TTC fare was raised by the lovely mayor so that “we could get some real progress on the joke we call ‘transit” but what I don’t understand is why they are ignoring the big boys and girls sleeping in the bathtub.
